Additional Testing

Thermal Scanning

A thermal scan will test for the presence of hidden leaks along walls and ceilings, lack of insulation in walls, ceilings and floor, lack of weatherstripping around doorways and windows. It also allows testing for excessive heat from faulty electrical connections to help prevent electrical fires. It takes a bit more time during the home inspection but is well worth it!

Radon Gas Testing

Radon is a radioactive, colorless, odorless, tasteless noble gas. Radon occurs naturally as an intermediate step in the radioactive decay process. Radon gas from natural sources can accumulate in buildings, especially in low areas such as basements and crawl spaces due to its high density.

Under normal conditions Radon is easily inhaled, making the presence of Radon gas a serious health hazard. The United States Environmental Protection Agency reports that Radon causes 21,000 lung cancer deaths per year in the United States, second only to cigarette smoking. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. As Radon decays it leaves behind other potentially hazardous cancer-causing decay products.

Air Quality Testing

Molds are part of the natural environment, and can be found everywhere, indoors and outdoors. Mold is not usually a problem, unless it begins growing indoors. Poor Air Quality can cause significant physical damage to the home, and exposure to airborne spores can cause respiratory issues.

Visit the EPA for more information on Air Quality Testing including guides on prevention.
